Topic 4: The Moving Crust

Lithosphere: The crust and the upper layer of the mantle together make up a zone of rigid, brittle rock called the Lithosphere.

Mantle: under the crust and part of the lithosphere. Composed of thick liquid rock, the consistency of asphalt.

Outer Core: composed of liquid iron and nickel at temperatures of over 5500 degress Celcius.

Inner Core: solid rock at temperatures of over 6000 degrees Celcius.
