Assessment Criteria

The student will:

  • demonstrate correct use of software functions to produce properly formatted letters, reports, essays, position papers, response journals, poems, recipes and other communication texts.
  • produce documents with appropriate:
    • headings/subheadings
    • references (footnotes, end-notes, bibliographies)
    • headers/footers
    • title page
  • produce personal and business correspondence such as letter to family and friends, customer complaint letter, letter of application, letter to teacher, etc. which contain:
    • letter parts (date, inside address, salutations, complimentary closing, name/title, references)
  • produce documents such as calendars, announcements, agendas, programs and other types of display typing with tables (single/multiple columns), headings, borders and ruler/tabs.

Students will be assessed on being able to demonstrate:

formatting text:

  • rulers and margins
  • line spacing
  • text alignment
  • tabs/indents
  • tables
  • borders/shading
  • text styles
  • bullets and numbered lists
  • font types/sizes

  • page numbers
